Complete, Low-Maintenance Solutions for Commercial Water Purification

Providing pure water is becoming a serious challenge worldwide. For the commercial operator, not only must water be pure but also there needs to be practicality in system upkeep. The standard water treatment system may require routine cleaning, frequent replacement membranes and constant monitoring of systems which are likely to fail without notice. With a wealth of expertise and many years’ experience Aquatal is a world leader in water treatment and provides the optimum solutions for any filtration or water purification requirement.

Smart pre-filtration protects core RO membranes from sediment and scaling

The membrane is central to any reverse osmosis system, and the primary cause of premature RO membranes failure is inadequate pre-treatment. Particles of sediment will scratch and foul the surface of the RO membrane. Dissolved mineral content can precipitate as scale that blocks water flow. Both will lead to an expensive membrane replacement years before the membrane is at its theoretical life-expectancy. Standard pre-filtration will employ generic sediment filters capable of removing certain sizes of particle only allowing finer matter through that will damage the membrane from the inside.

Our smart pre-filtration system utilizes a staged, progressive filtration process. The first stage of the process captures larger sediment particles up to a defined micrometer size limit. The second and third stages progressively filter smaller sediment particles, including those normally missed by basic filters. Optional additional stages can filter chlorine or inhibiting scale using specialty media, depending on the water supply and application. Such a progressive filter will feed purified water into the RO membrane at a far slower rate of fouling.

This pre-filtration system also contains visual inspection features. The entire filter housings are constructed from clear high strength materials, allowing operators to view the filtration process occurring within without any stoppage to the water flow. You can instantly detect sediment and observe changing colors within the filter media and flow patterns within the filter housings. This eliminates the need for scheduled based filter maintenance, which is either wasteful or risks contamination reaching end users due to lack of foresight.

Reliable single-lamp UV disinfection with real-time service alerts

Which pre-filtration addresses particles and scaling, microbial contamination is a key commercial concern that requires additional treatment. To deal with bacteria, viruses and other micro-organisms Ultraviolet disinfection will kill all living organisms. In common UV purification systems the quartz sleeve around the UV lamp can quickly become contaminated with organic matter or mineral scale, which blocks the UV light source.

Our single-lamp UV disinfection system aims to counter this problem. A single UV lamp makes changing the unit efficient with less items in stock and a simpler process. More importantly our UV purification systems employ a real-time UV intensity monitor that verifies the output from the lamp is of sufficient strength to provide effective disinfection of the water passing through it. Should this fall below the desired intensity, the system automatically sends out an alert (usually to a dashboard, a visual display, an alarm sound, or a remote building management system) that requires the unit be serviced.

This real-time warning system will replace ad-hoc replacement schedules of lamps with proactive service alerts that are guaranteed to be sent out when needed, meaning waste is eliminated and potential for contamination prevented. In some cases, automatic UV lamp sleeves can remove buildup without requiring service.

Seamless, crevice-free dispenser design meets stringent hygiene standards

Water that is produced after flowing through both the RO stage and UV stage may be ultimately contaminated at the delivery stage if the dispenser unit has any cracks, fissures or rough surfaces where micro-organisms can take root. Conventional dispenser designs utilize multiple paneled components held together with screws, and buttons that require access through the dispenser surface itself.

The dispenser unit is designed from smooth continuous material, eliminating any fissures or textured surfaces where micro-organisms could exist. Where parts meet they are either permanently welded together or self-draining. The sheer simplicity means that cleaning the surface is very fast and efficient, wiping away any contaminant that appears there on the surface; in contrast to a textured or fissured surface requiring targeted cleaning.

The dispenser unit is NSF/ANSI 61 certified, meaning it is proven to meet rigorous testing standards associated with commercial drinking water equipment.

Our products are designed with all aspects of water treatment and the needs of the commercial operator in mind. Aquatal leaders the water treatment industry because our solutions are built on vision and extensive R&D, continuously delivering innovative and efficient systems. Through working with many of the world's top suppliers and seeking out international partnerships with new technologies, Aquatal will continue to provide only the best solutions in purification with a focus on future developments in technology and pre- and post-sale service and support. Every step of water should provide a clean and pure output and we are aiming to set this as the global standard.
